When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long, and you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong... Just remember, in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow, lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring... becomes the rose.

This song is so beautiful I can't even... It says find triumph and hope in all sorrows. I truly appreciate honest moments before bedtime where I have the luxury to pamper my eardrums with sweet melodies. Recently I just got so in love with oldies, especially those by The Carpenters! You can never find a substitute for a voice as pure as Karen C's. Favorites include Yesterday Once More, We've Only Just Begun, Rainy Days and Mondays. Beatles' Yesterday is to die for too!

Happy Friday, folks!

If you have ever wondered, yes, I did take on photography classes before. Many would think it's totally a waste of money as photography isn't something that's necessarily be taught formally. I do agree that the practical side of it is what matters most, but the short periods I spent in classes have me gained many valuable insights.

Many people would say the feel a picture yields is what's most important, regardless of its composition, lighting, etc while I think otherwise. Maybe I have some perfectionist elements built-in, I find it very difficult to accept pictures with low resolutions, bad lighting, wrong compositions. For me, objects have to be on the left or the right (occasionally center to achieve a particular effect) and never have extras like cut leaves, half a person, etc. I generally call them dirty. I do understand photography is about capturing your mood, your perceptions, and all. But the fundamental principle is still... get the theories right, or you can't go far.

The most precious thing I gained from my classes is the boost. Without having attended, I doubt if I still used my DSLR today. It helped opening a wide interesting world of photography. It helped to see the beauty of capturing. And through careful learning and active interactions without feeling embarrassed, I gained so much, and understand that everyone has their firsts, and so never be reluctant to share the knowledge you hold. I thank my teacher for the constant encouragements, for the constructive critiques and sincere compliments.

I am not saying that I am a professional or something along that line, I'm just trying to convey my perceptions. For now, I would want to venture into portraiture, maybe when I get back to Malaysia!

Hope you had an enjoying read x

I see sometimes I'm overwhelming the site with pictures but minimal words. I'm not a good writer, nor am I a poet, but I do enjoy writing every now and then. With a glass of red wine in hand, I have this inspiration of making a new series called A Picture Story.

Many have asked how do I ended up calling myself Mandy Faith. For me, it came out of nowhere. It just happened that one of my favorite Instagrammers is named Marianne Hope, and I thought she added Hope to make the name sound cooler just to realize much later that it's actually her family name. I too came across names like XX Love, etc. At that time I felt my name was really not standing out. How ordinary Mandy Tan sounds?! Just by googling millions results return. I narrowed my list into positive words, then into greatly-sounded ones. You can't possibly want a name like Mandy Bloom right? Then faith popped into my mind.

Though Google still returns some results of somebody else named Mandy Faith (screw them, why copy me!), I love this name in many ways. It rhymes well and looks well. Faith, personally, is one of my favorite words. I like the song Shining Friends that has the starting lyrics: A little faith, brightens a rainy day... I think it's applicable to many life events! It's by holding on and having that strong belief that lead us into eternal happiness, regardless of how circumstances change.

So my friends, have a little faith in yourself, your loves, and everything you do!
